WHAT IS TRUTH?
Today, more
than ever before, teenagers are confused about life. They turn to friends,
music, sports, and addictive behavior to try and find some sort of truth in the
midst of a crooked world.
So many “religious”
and “support” groups pull them in many
directions
claiming to have the answer to their internal void. There is no source of truth
in their lives. They have nothing dependable to stand on, and no source of
final authority.
It is
certain, there is only one truth. What truth are you depending on? Your own feelings? Constantly changing philosophies? Maybe
you ignore truth, and hope things will work themselves out. Truth exists
whether you choose to admit it or not. Without truth, life remains confusing without a purpose.
WHERE IS TRUTH?
God is the
source of all truth. He provides truth for everyone through is Holy Word, the
Bible. It has been said that “Bible” can stand for basic instructions
before leaving earth.
The Bible
was completely inspired by God through men. It was
written
in three languages by over 40 different
authors in a period of 1600 years. Every prophecy God promised has come to
pass, and it’s 100% historically and geographically accurate. It
contains the power to change lives eternally. No other book or person on earth
can claim these truths.
The Bible
says, “Sanctify
them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17
WHO IS TRUTH?
The Bible
tells us that Jesus Christ is truth:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
Jesus
Christ came down to earth as God in the Flesh. He came to reveal the truth and
salvation to everyone who believes on Him.
WHY TRUTH?
Everyone
has broken God’s commandments. The Bible calls this sin. Realize that everyone
falls short of God’s perfect law. “For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God;” Romans 3:23
The
punishment for sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 Someday, we will all die. God cannot sin, and because
he is righteous, he cannot allow sin to dwell with him. The judgment for sin is
hell. A place intended for Satan and his angels.
Jesus
Christ came to this earth to take your punishment for sin on the cross. He was
dead, buried, and rose again from the grave for you. “But God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Jesus lived
perfectly and fulfilled God’s law for us so we can spend eternity in heaven
with Him.
PERSONALLY ACCEPT TRUTH
God created us to fellowship with him. He
wants you to live an abundant life with purpose. He loved us so much he made a way to redeem us through Jesus
Christ. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Today, you can accept the only truth
by faith. Believe what God says. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
He will remain faithful. “That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
Get alone with God and pray that He will
forgive you of all your sin. Admit you’re a sinner, and understand that without
Jesus Christ, your punishment is eternal separation and torment in hell. Jesus
paid your debt so you don’t have to. Thank Him for saving you.
CONTINUE IN TRUTH
Your new relationship with Christ doesn’t end
with salvation; it just begins. Find a local Bible believing church to learn
more about God’s Word. Read God’s Word daily, pray, and share
this good news. Ask questions, and base all your beliefs on what God says; not
religion or philosophies. If you live locally, please come visit our youth
group.
